With the economic slowdown being
experienced by strong economies these days such as that of the European
countries and the Middle East, one cannot help but be apprehensive as to the
things that could possibly happen to the financial system the world over if
such a situation becomes a contagion. With this slump in the economic progress,
jobs could be affected. Such a scenario as lay-offs could definitely hurt the
working middle class and if it remains unacted upon, it could bring forth a middleclass warfare.
Responding to all these possibilities, the
administration of President Barack Obama planned on taxing the wealthy in order
to compensate for the budget deficit that has been a problem of the
administration ever since the country became a casualty of deep recession and
economic catastrophe. The wealthy, naturally, did not take things lightly.
Judgments have been passed, left and right, calling President Obama’s administration as that of triggering a class warfare to which the working class
did not respond well to. The working class was taken aback that such a
well-meaning act on the part of the President is being challenged by the
wealthy for as the rest of the unprivileged ones tighten their belts, the rich
remains living comfortably amidst the crisis being faced by the country. This middle class warfare, which involves people who are more vulnerable to unstable
economies than the well-to-do, will remain unresolved if a common ground
between the wealthy sector and the middle class will not be established.
However, with the refusal of the rich to adhere to the terms set forth by the
government which is illustrated by their acts of labeling policies that are not
in favor of them as class warfare, the President must come up with a solution
that caters to the needs of both the rich and the poor such as strengthening
the Obama jobs plan. Such a challenge requires patience on the part of
the government to reconcile this quandary so that the country could move forward
towards progress and the people must oblige for resisting will result to
prolonged agony.
